Wedding

Rachel Barnes of Fullerton, Calif. and David Peddie of lrvine, Calif., were united in marriage at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, in Newport Beach, Calif., at St. James Church.

The bride is the daughter of Gary and Javonda (Harner) Barnes of St. Louis. Grandparents are John and Dorothy Barnes of Patoka, and Jennie Alice and the late Joseph Harner of Brownstown.
The groom is the son of William and Susan Peddie of Corvalis, Mont.  
The organist played “Jesus, Joy of Man’s Desiring” as the wedding procession began, and the bride, escorted by her father, entered to Jeremiah Clarke’s “Prince of Denmark’s March.”
David’s college friend, Alex Havens, read the Old Testament reading from Song of Solomon 2:10-13 and 8:6-7. Christian Borrman, from Mesa, Ariz., then sang, “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” accompanied by the bride’s mother. Rachel’s aunt, JoAlice Dobbs, of Stillwater, Okla., read the New Testament, reading from I John 4:7-16. After the reading Borrman was joined by Bethany Barnes and they sang, “Mighty is the Power of the Cross.”
The Rev. Richard Crocker, assisted by the Rev. Cathie Young, officiated the ceremony.
The bride chose her sister, Bethany Barnes, as her maid of honor. Attendants were Ashley Kritzmire, San Diego, Calif.; Kelly Burleson, Mesa, Ariz.; Javonda Hallman, Champaign; Darcie King, Mission Viejo, Calif.; Jodie Rowe, San Diego, Calif.; Kari Railsback, Grand Junction, Colo.; and Kathleen Bergen, Fresno, Calif.
She chose Ashlyn Dobbs, Rachel’s cousin from Stillwater, Okla., as her flower girl.
The groom chose his brother, James Peddie of Missoula, Mont., as the best man. Groomsmen included Chris Anderson, Madison, Wis.; David Hagund, Hawaii; John Howard, Kalispell, Mont.; Matt Blocker, Ennis, Mont.; Alex Havens, Vancouver, Wash.; Jeremy Livermore, Newport Beach, Calif.; and J.K. Barnes, San Diego, Calif.
He chose his nephew, William Peddie of Missoula, Mont., and Aaron Borrman, of Mesa, Ariz., as the ring bearers. Jeff Selvig of Venice, Calif., and Adam Daley of St. Louis served as ushers.
Guests enjoyed hors d’oeures at 4 p.m. in the garden of the University of California Irvine University Club prior to the dinner and dance while the wedding party took pictures at the beach.
The bride’s father gave the opening greeting and toast to honor the couple, and the groom’s father offered a greeting and prayer before the meal.
Following a honeymoon in Aruba, the couple returned to celebrate New Year’s Eve in New York’s Time Square.
Rachel is employed as an undergraduate admissions counselor for Hope International University in Fullerton, Calif., where she is completing requirements for a graduate degree in marriage and family therapy.
David, a communication degree graduate of the University of Montana, holds a master’s degree in theology from Vanguard University in Huntington Beach. He owns and directs a Mathnasium franchise in Lake Forest, Calif., and teaches math and Latin for a charter school.
The couple resides in Irvine, Calif.
