Wedding

Jacqueline Shimmin of Palatine and Charles Forbes of Vandalia were united in marriage in a ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 26, 2011, at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church in Glenview, with the Revs. Manny Rocha and Dan Rush officiating.

The bride was given in marriage by a brother-in-law, Jeff Stillman.
She wore a full-length, ivory strapless chiffon gown with a lace bolero jacket. She wore an elbow-length veil with pearls stitched on it.
Her bouquet was made up of ivory roses, miniature pink cali lilies and deep purple carnations.
The bride chose her sister, Deana Stillman of Bloomington, Minn., as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Barbara Blasco of Mesa, Ariz., and Marilyn Anderson of Glenview, friends of the bride and groom; and Debbie Castic of Hoffman Estates, a friend of the bride.
The bride’s attendants wore matching floor-length eggplant-colored dresses with bolero jackets. They carried bouquets made with a variety of pink flowers, and each wore a matching double strand of pearls in light pink and lavender made by Anne Heathman, a friend of the bride.
Abby and Anna Forbes, granddaughters of the groom, were the flower girls, and Isaac Forbes, grandson of the groom, was the ringbearer.
The groom chose his sons, Douglas Forbes of Vandalia and David Forbes of Marshall, as his best men.
Mark Forbes and Bryan Forbes, brothers of the groom, served as groomsmen. John Carl of Glendale Heights served as usher.
A reception at the church followed the ceremony. They honeymooned in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
The couple now resides in Vandalia.
The bride graduated from Trinity Lutheran University with a bachelor’s degree in communications, and the groom graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in agriculture.
