VJHS band presents spring concert

Several members of the Vandalia Junior High School bands received awards at last Thursday’s spring concert. Recognized were, front row, from left: Ashley Bauer (Band Leadership Award for French horn), Hannah Blythe (Band Leadership Award, and IESA Solo Contest ‘Best of Day’ Award for flute) and Jalea Paslay (Band Leadership Award, and IESA Solo Contest ‘Best of Day’ Award for clarinet). In the back row, from left, were: Eli Bowen (Band Leadership Award for saxophone), Jon Torbeck (Band Leadership Award for percussion), Joe Meyer (Band Leadership Award for baritone) and Nick Donaldson (IESA Solo Contest ‘Best of Day’ Award for trombone).

Lexi Buechel played flute in the seventh- and eighth-grade band.

Grace Hill played clarinet in the beginning band.

Playing percussion in the seventh- and eighth-grade band, while sporting a blue face, was Chase Blackerby.

Among the trombone players in the beginning band were Natalie Gutierraz, left, and Kaylin Holman, right.
