VCHS homecoming is next week

Vandalia Community High School will celebrate homecoming next week.
The schedule for the week at VCHS includes:
• Monday Sept. 20 – Camo/Farmer Day.
• Tuesday Sept. 21 – Senior Citizen Day.
• Wednesday Sept. 23 – Neon Day.
• Thursday Sept. 24 – Class Pride Day (Seniors-pink; juniors-blue; sophomores-green; and freshmen-orange).
• Friday Sept. 24 – School Pride Day.
Homecoming assemblies during the week include:
• Tuesday at 9:23 a.m. – "Don't Forget the Lyrics," an air guitar competition; and "Best Senior Citizen," with the teachers doing the judging.
• Thursday at 12:14 p.m. – Dance-off, obstacle course, head-banging and tug-of-war. Teachers will do the judging on the best-dressed class competition.
Friday activities include the homecoming parade at 2:30 p.m.
This year’s route will revert to the traditional one, after last year’s parade route was changed due to the streetscape construction on Gallatin Street.
From the high school, this year’s route will go south on Eighth Street to Jackson Street, east on Jackson to Fifth Street, south on Fifth to Madison Street, east on Madison to Fourth Street, South on Fourth to Gallatin Street, west on Gallatin to Eighth Street and north on Eighth to the high school.
The homecoming football game against Litchfield at 7 p.m., and the coronation for the homecoming king and queen will be during halftime.
The homecoming dance will be held from 9-11:30 p.m. on Friday in the high school gym.
