VCHS Band presents spring concert

Named as recipients of Director’s Award this year were Chelsey Stewart (left) and Brayden Summers (right). They received the awards from VCHS band director Tony Hicks (center) for assisting him during the school year.

Iris Daiber received the outstanding marcher award.

Ian Murrell was named this year’s recipient of the John Philip Sousa Award. He is shown receiving the award from VCHS band director Tony Hicks.

Bailey Jones (left) was chosen to play in the All-Sate Band this year, and Ian Murrell was chosen to perform with the All-State Jazz Band.

Vandalia Community High School band director Tony Hicks introduced a new award at last Thursday’s spring band concert – Section of the Year. The first winner of the award was the trumpet section. Members of the section are shown above. In front, from left to right, are Melissa Davis, Audra Critcheloe, Craig Spearman, Trevor Montgomery, Christian Schroeder and Caittlin Alverson. In back are Cole Haynes, Kendall Leander, Jonathan Seely, Haele Ruble and Iris Daiber.
