VCHS Band Honorees

The 11 Vandalia Community High School band students shown above were recognized at the winter band concert in December for being selected to perform in the IMEA District Festival at Eastern Illinois University in November. The students auditioned on Columbus Day for a spot in the festival ensembles. In front, from left to right, are: Elle Sanders, French horn, orchestra; Jaina Bolyard, euphonium, band; Alexa Campbell, euphonium, band; Rachael Heistand, flute, orchestra; Erika Blackwell, flute, band; and Bailey Jones, clarinet, band. In back are Ian Murrell, trombone, jazz band; C.J. Runkel, tuba, band; Patrick Bauer, tuba, band; David Zimmerman, trombone, band; Sawyer Dickenson, percussion, band; and VCHS band instructor Tony Hicks. Heistand was also selected to perform in the All-State Orchestra later in the month.
