Vandalia will host two special activities this Saturday.
The Vandalia Lions Club is again joining with Vandalia Classic Cars and Trucks to hold the July-Fest and Car Show, and Vandalia Main Street is holding its inaugural SummerFest.
The July-Fest and Car Show will be held at Vandalia Classic Cars and Trucks, located at 703 Janett Ave., across from Chuckwagon Restaurant. The event runs throughout the day, with registration for the car show running from 9 a.m.-noon.
The fee for participation in the car show competition is $15, and the fee to only display a vehicle is $8. The vehicle judging will be done by members of the Automobile Collectors Club of the Greater Belleville Area.
A number of trophies and cash prizes will be awarded, and the event will also feature a 50/50 drawing.
Entertainment will include music presented by a DJ and by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Karen Carpenter impersonators.
The Vandalia Main Street SummerFest includes a car show downtown from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Cool Cruisers Car Club of Springfield will be participating in the show.
A cash prize will be awarded to the top entry, as judged by the entrants, and trophies will be given to the top 20 vehicles. People may have photos of their vehicles taken with Vandalia’s Abraham Lincoln presenter, Abe Clymer.
The event also includes entertainment in the 100 block of South Fifth Street from 2-10:30 p.m. by Ronnie Lee, “Big Sky Theory” and Nashville recording artist Brittany Clarke.
Main Street is hosting a beer garden open to individuals over the age of 21; admission is $5.
