Vandalia Police Dec. 22, 2011

Dec. 8
• Jeff Burnam, 402 W. Jackson St., reported at 8:01 p.m. that his vehicle had been egged. No damage was reported.
• An officer took a complaint at 3:43 p.m. of a mailbox being damaged at 220 N. Adams St.
• Officers were called to an apartment in the 1500 block of North Eighth Street for a report of a domestic dispute and possible child abuse. The Department of Children & Family Services was notified of the complaint.
• Two warning tickets were issued, one for speeding and one for improper display of a license plate.
Dec. 13
• Police were called to the Vandalia Community High School parking lot at 8:22 a.m. for a report of an accident. According to the report, a vehicle driven by Nicholas S. Metzger, 17, of Vandalia, stuck an unoccupied car owned by David V. Leigh of Vandalia.
• Police  responded to Vandalia Community High School at 11:45 a.m. for a report of a fight. Two female juveniles were arrested for public behavior-fighting at school.
• Police were called to the parking lot of Sisters Consignment Shoppe at 1401 W. Veterans at 4:44 p.m. for a report of an accident. According to the report, Lexie L. Caraway, 26, of Altamont, was backing when she struck an unoccupied vehicle owned by Lori J. Anderson, 47, of Vandalia.
Dec. 14
• Officers were called at 6:11 a.m. to TC Package Liquor, 1219 N. Fourth St., for a burglar alarm. It was a false alarm.
• Officers were called to Vandalia Junior High School at 12:25 p.m. for a report of a fight. Two male juveniles were issued citations for public behavior-fighting at school.
• Police responded to 304 N. Fifth St. at 12:43 p.m. for a report of criminal damage to a motor vehicle. No damage estimate was available at the time.
• Police were called to Seventh and Fletcher streets at 3:03 p.m. for a report of students fighting on a school bus. Two juveniles, one male and one female, were issued citations for public behavior-fighting at school.
• Police responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 1400 block of North Eighth Street at Veterans Avenue. A vehicle driven by Kimberly S. Sachan, 40, of Vandalia, collided with a vehicle driven by Jesse D. Ingles, 50, of Vandalia. Sachan was issued a ticket for improper lane usage. No injuries were reported.
Dec. 15
• Officers responded to the Fayette County Hospital emergency room at 12:39 a.m. for a report of battery. No further information was given.
• Officers responded to the 700 block of South Coles Street for a report of missing dogs and a gate that had been tampered with. No further information was given.
• Officers handled a property dispute at 6:01 p.m.
• Officers handled a report of telephone harassment at 6:27 p.m.
Dec. 16
• Officers ticketed Steve A. Williams, 44, of rural Brownstown, for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after his vehicle struck one driven by Adam T. Shafer, RR 1, Vandalia, in the 100 block of West Gallatin Street.
Dec. 17
• Police received a report at 2:47 p.m. that a woman had left her purse in a shopping cart in Walmart, and when she returned, it was gone. Police are investigating.
Dec. 18
• Officers responded to 1225 N. Fifth St. for a report of a break-in at the home of Russell Osborne. No further information was given.
• Officers issued two speeding tickets, seven written warning tickets for speeding, one for improper turn and one for expired registration.
Dec. 19
• Officers investigated a report of cyberbullying.
• Police issue a warning ticket for improper display of a license plate.
