Vandalia Police

Feb. 10
• Police arrested Jacob Rush, 28, 100 Country Lane, Vandalia, on a charge of domestic battery. His bond was set at $7,500.
• Officers responded to a report of disorderly conduct in the 700 block of Veterans Avenue.
• Officers responded to the 2300 block of West Randolph Street for a complaint on a parking problem.
• Officers responded to the 2000 block of West Jefferson Street for a complaint of harassment.
• Officers responded to the Family YMCA of Fayette County, 710 N. Rock Island Ave., for a report of suspicious individuals attempting to burglarize vehicles. The suspects left the area prior to the arrival of police, and officers were unable to locate the suspects’ vehicle. It was determined that one vehicle in the YMCA lot had been broken into.
• Officers took a report of theft in the 600 block of Bow Drive.
• Officers responded to the 100 block of Lake Street for a report of property damage.
• Officers responded to a residence on West Johnson Street for a domestic dispute complaint.
Feb. 9
• Police arrested Tyler Polk, 30, of Altamont in the 300 block of South Third Street on a charge of aggravated assault. His bond was set at $1,500.
• Officers took a theft report in the 1500 block of North Sixth Street.
• Officers responded to a residence on West Fillmore Street for a domestic dispute complaint.
• Officers responded to the 200 block of Mattes Avenue for a complaint of property damage.
• Officers responded to the 400 block of South Sixth Street for a disorderly conduct complaint.
• Officers responded to the 1500 block of North Seventh Street for a harassment complaint.
Feb. 8
• 12:05 p.m. – Police were called to the 100 block of Rock Island Avenue for a complaint of a loose dog. The owner was given a warning.
• 2:17 p.m. – Police handled a harassment complaint.
• 3:50 p.m. – Police handled a complaint on a child custody issue.
• 3:53 p.m. – Police responded to the parking lot of McDonald’s on Veterans Avenue regarding an altercation at that location. An officer found the subjects involved and the situation was resolved.
• 5:46 p.m. – An officer responded to the 500 block of West Gallatin Street for a report of a verbal dispute. One of the individuals involved in the dispute had left prior to the officer’s arrival.
• 6:19 p.m. – Police received a complaint of solicitors going door to door. The individuals were found a short time later and issued a city ordinance violation for failing to register at city hall.
• 7:33 p.m. – Police received a harassment complaint.
• 8:51 p.m. – Police responded to Jack Flash at Veterans Avenue and Sunset Drive for a report of deceptive practices.
• Officers handled five calls for citizen/motorist assistance.
Feb. 7
• 3:47 p.m. – Police responded to the 700 block of West Randolph Street for a report of a disorderly person blocking traffic. That individual had left the area prior to the officer’s arrival.
• 8:30 p.m. – Police took a report of assault and battery that allegedly had occurred at Circle K at Second and Gallatin streets.
• 10:19 p.m. – Police responded to a burglar alarm at the Family YMCA of Fayette County on Rock Island Avenue. An officer determined that the building was secure.
Feb. 6
• Police arrested Donald Haslett, 40, of Brownstown, during a traffic stop on a charge of driving while his license is suspended.
• Police arrested Michael Korves, 19, of Vandalia, on a Fayette County warrant for failure to appear in court. His bond was set at $3,500.
• Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident at Eighth and Randolph streets. According to the report, a vehicle driven by Hope Budny-Clymer of Vandalia struck a vehicle driven by Joshua McCarty of Fillmore. No injuries were reported.
• Police took two theft reports in the 200 block of Mattes Avenue.
• Police responded to the 100 block of North Fifth Street for a theft report.
Feb. 4
• 3:14 a.m. – Police responded to Eighth and Jefferson streets for a report of suspicious individuals. Police arrested Natasha A. Peters, 33, of Vandalia, was arrested on a charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Police handled 15 calls or incidents.
Feb. 3
• 1:56 p.m. – During a traffic stop at Fletcher and Eighth streets, David R. Howard, 38, of Ramsey, was arrested on a charge of driving while his license is suspended and on a Montgomery County warrant. He was issued a citation for driving while his license is suspended and improper lane usage.
• 1:08 p.m. – During a traffic stop at Tower and Remann streets, police arrested Carl H.M. Sprague, 30, of Vandalia, on a charge of driving while his license is revoked.
• Police handled 26 calls or incidents.
Feb. 2
• 7:20 a.m. – Police responded to Veterans Avenue and Sunset Drive for a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. According to police, a vehicle driven by Barbara S. Doggett, 69, of Brownstown, struck the front of another vehicle due to turning too sharply at the intersection.
• 7:20 a.m. – Police responded to Veterans Avenue and Sixth Street for a one-vehicle accident. According to the report, Angela M. Kreienheder, 71, of Vandalia, struck a guardrail and post after the driver was reportedly blinded by the sun. No injuries were reported.
• 3:26 p.m. – Police responded to the 1300 block of West Edwards Street for a report of a loose dog. The dog’s owner was issued a warning.
• Police responded to the Vandalia Alternative School for a report of an altercation involving two male juveniles. One of the juvenile was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault and given a notice to appear in court, and released.
• 8:38 p.m. – Police responded to Economy Inn for a report of a disturbance in one of the rooms. The situation was resolved.
• 9:02 p.m. – Kenneth D. Schwager, 20, of Vandalia, was arrested on a Fayette County warrant.
• 10:36 p.m. – Police responded to the 200 block of North Kennedy Boulevard for a report of a domestic problems. One of the individuals involved in the dispute left the area for the evening.
• Police handled 29 calls or incidents.
Jan. 30
• 2:55 a.m. – Police responded to the 1500 block of North Seventh Street for a report of a prowler. Police were unable to find anyone in the area.
• 10:45 a.m. – Police responded to the drive-through at Land of Lincoln Credit Union on New York Drive for a report of a minor, two-vehicle accident. According to the report, a vehicle driven by Mabel L. Marcolini, 78, of Vandalia, struck another vehicle when her foot slipped off of the brake.
• 10:46 a.m. – Police received a report of a runaway juvenile. The juvenile was found at about 5 p.m.
• 2:36 p.m. – Police responded to Kaskaskia Supply & Rental on Progress West Drive for a theft report.
•  8:12 p.m. – Police took a theft report in the 300 block of West Johnson Street.
• 8:41 p.m. – Brittany K. Yokley, 27, of Vandalia, was arrested in the area of Janett Avenue and Wagner Street on a Fayette County warrant.
• 8:46 p.m. – Police responded to the 1200 block of West Jefferson Street for a report of a possible prowler. An officer was unable to find anyone.
• 9:30 p.m. – Police responded to the area of Fourth and Fillmore streets for a complaint of illegal burning. Upon the officer’s arrival, the fire was out.
• 10:11 p.m. – Police responded to the 600 block of South Fifth Street for a complaint of illegal burning. The report was unfounded.
• 10:39 p.m. – Police received a complaint of a loud mini-bike in the area of the 1000 block of West Edwards Street. Police found an individual with a loud remote-controlled car, who was advised to discontinue using it for the night.
• Police handled eight citizen/motorist assists.
