Vandalia Jr. Wrestling results (Jan. 23)

The Vandalia Jr. wrestlers traveled to Springfield for the only Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation tournament of the weekend, the 30th annual Jon Davis Kids Open.

Approximately 1,500 wrestlers took part in the event, and Vandalia had three individual champions.

In the Elite Division – which includes all participants who qualified for state last season – Tanner Swain claimed the championship in the Novice Elite 101 weight class.

In the open division, Baelynd Brown finished first in his weight among 7- and 8-year-olds, and Jarrett Paslay placed first in his weight among 13- and 14-year-olds.

This weekend, the club will travel to Hillsboro on Saturday and Mt. Vernon on Sunday.

Also wrestling at Springfield was Vandalia resident Anthony Enlow.

He placed first in his division, with a 3-0 record.
