Vandalia Idol judges picked

Judges for the inaugural Vandalia Idol competition held by Soroptimist International of Vandalia have been announced.
• Neil Clark has been performing, singing and playing music for more than 60 years,and has served as a judge in several talent contests in the past.
• Mike Register is the director of the Kaskaskia College choir, as well as a music and voice instructor at KC.
• Nancy Childress lives in Vandalia and has been choir director, organist, pianist and soloist at First Christian Church for many years. She is well recognized as being one of the Vandalia Honor Chorus directors for many years as well.
• Catherine Burge is the assistant professor of music at Greenville College and an active performer with the St. Louis Wind Symphony. She teaches piano, clarinet, sight-singing and ear training, and directs and performs in small ensembles at GC, Greenville Free Methodist Church and other area churches.
The two preliminary evenings will be at 6 p.m. this Saturday and Saturday, June 11, and the finale is on Saturday, June 18, at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Vandalia.
The Soroptimists invite the public to be in the audience at the inaugural Vandalia Idol.
