Vandalia gets big homecoming victory, despite fumbles

VANDALIA – Despite losing seven fumbles during the game, Vandalia came away with a 47-6 win against Litchfield for homecoming by scoring a touchdown on its other seven drives.

Ryan Ambuehl scored four times during the game, rushing for three touchdowns and catching a 24-yard pass from Tim Ritchey, who later threw another 24-yard touchdown pass to Luke Smith.

Alex Newsom added a pair of rushing touchdowns, including a 49-yard run on Vandalia's first play from scrimmage.

The Vandal defense played well, recording 13 tackles for loss.

Next Friday, Vandalia (4-1) hosts Hillsboro, and with a victory, would become playoff eligible.
