Three Vandalia boys and girls basketball players receive all-conference honors

Six Vandalia athletes were given all-conference honors from the South Central Conference East Division coaches.

Senior Dathan Berning was the only player to be named to the first team.

He led the Vandals in scoring, with 13.53 points per game, and was a consistent rebounding threat and a strong ball handler.

Senior Bryan Hosick and junior Tim Ritchey were both named to the second team.

Hosick had a career-best 10.97 points per game, and was also key to Vandalia's rebounding efforts and offensive ball movement.

Ritchey averaged 9.9 points per game, and served as one of the top point guards in the conference this season.

For the Lady Vandals, senior Haley Wollerman, junior Amber Bruno and sophomore Megan Godoyo were all named to the second team.

Wollerman and Bruno each scored their 1,000th career point during the season, and Bruno led the team in scoring, with 15.81 points per game.

Wollerman, who often faced strong defensive pressure, was right behind, with 13.44.

Godoyo, who was injured early in January, was strong from the point guard position, averaging 9.68 points per game.
