Tennis team splits conference matches

The Lady Vandals weren’t able to get by Roxana on Tuesday, falling 7-2 in their second loss against a conference opponent this season. Sophomore Courtney Ulmer picked up a singles win at No. 6, winning, 10-4, and seniors Emilie Britt and Jordan Boren teamed to win No. 3 doubles, 10-5. The loss moved Vandalia’s record to 4-3. With three singles victories and one doubles victory already in the books for Vandalia as Brimberry’s singles match against Sarah Siefken came to a close, the wild 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) victory for Brimberry was the fifth team point, and the Lady Vandals went on to beat Greenville, 6-3. Also picking up singles wins were Blythe – 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 – Britt (6-1, 6-1) and Ehrat (6-1, 5-7, 6-3). In doubles, Vandalia (4-2) got wins from Blythe/Brimberry (8-6) and Britt/Boren (8-4).
