Strasburg Regional Volleyball Tournament preview
Three area teams will be competing in the Strasburg Regional Volleyball Tournament, which is being held at Stewardson-Strasburg High School. The No. 1 seed in the bracket is St. Elmo, which finished the 2010 regular season with a 25-9 record. In the first round, St. Elmo meets No. 8 Brownstown, for a 5:30 p.m. game on Wednesday. The Bombers finished the regular season with a 4-23 record. The Eagles and Bombers met once in the regular season, with St. Elmo taking a 25-14, 25-20 victory. Later, the teams met in the National Trail Conference and Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournaments, with the Eagles again winning. Whichever team wins the first-round match will face either No. 4 Cowden-Herrick or No. 5 Stew-Stras in a semifinal game at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Seventh-seeded Ramsey is also in the Strasburg Regional. The Rams finished the season with an 11-16 record and will face No. 2 Neoga in first-round action on Thursday. The teams did not meet during the regular season. If Ramsey wins, it will meet either No. 3 Altamont or No. 6 Beecher City in the semifinals on Thursday.
