ll continue many of its long-standing traditions as it holds the annual Christmas Open House.
The holiday event, which runs from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, will again feature tours of the Statehouse while it is illuminated with more than 250 candles.

The open house will also feature refreshments from the Friends of the Old State Capitol, the Statehouse support group, and again, the first 100 visitors to register will receive a handmade ornament.
While the open house will again offer musical entertainment, that will be provided by a different group.
Statehouse Site Superintendent Steve Riddle said “Chordially Yours,” an instrumental group of six students from Edwardsville, will perform during the event.
In addition to performing, students in that group will “talk a little bit on the history of their instruments and the songs they are performing,” Riddle said.
The holiday decorations, as in the past, are appropriate to the 1840s and include fresh greenery and fruits. This year, the decorations have been created by Tiffany’s House of Style in Vandalia.
