Rhodes-Side Gleanings
My son, Steve Rhodes, lives in a condominium on Sheridan Road in Chicago. At 2:30 p.m. on Aug.19, there was a fire in a townhouse, the second building north of him, in the 5700 block of North Sheridan – and the smoke could be seen from downtown. No one was injured in the fire, but the incident brought rush-hour traffic to a crawl along Lake Shore Drive and in surrounding streets.
The Sun-Times reported that the fire was extinguished some 45 minutes later and the blaze is under investigation. Crews are working on the facade of the high rise between Steve’s building and the fire.
Lake Shore Drive ends just south of Steve and runs into Sheridan Road.
He lives in the second condominium – both are connected – and his apartment is on the 25th floor, facing Lake Michigan.
