St. Elmo mayor resigns

Randy Watson resigned from the mayoral post in St. Elmo at Monday night's city council meeting.

Watson reportedly read his resignation, then left the meeting.

The council appointed Alderman Jayson Porter to serve as mayor for that meeting, and agreed to recess the meeting until Thursday, at which time it could appoint a successor.
