Senior Garrett Buzzard scored 15 points for St. Elmo, but the Eagles again could not find consistent scoring during a 46-44 loss to Stew-Stras.

Sophomore Connor Beasley scored seven of his 11 points in the first quarter, as St. Elmo took a 15-10 advantage.

The Eagles would score only eight points in the second period, however, allowing the Comets to cut their deficit to just one at 23-22.

St. Elmo continued to struggle out of halftime, scoring six third-quarter points and falling behind, 33-29.

It would make a comeback try, though.

Five different Eagles scored in the fourth quarter, led by Buzzard with five points, but the Comets scored enough to win the close game.

Tuesday's game against Ramsey was canceled due to inclement weather.

That game was rescheduled for  Saturday, Feb. 12.
