St. Elmo beats Brownstown

ST. ELMO – A late surge gave St. Elmo  a 10-3 win against Brownstown last Wednesday.

Junior Ben Sperry hit a home run to spark a seven-run sixth inning for the Eagles, which broke a 3-3 tie.

He also picked up the win in relief of senior Kase Stolte, tossing 2 2/3 innings and striking out four.

Sophomore Connor Beasley was the biggest producer, however, hitting two home runs to drive in three runs.

For Brownstown, junior Coleman Scott paced the offense, with a 2-for-4 effort, and junior Colten Hunter struck out four Eagles in 5 1/3 innings of work.

St. Elmo vs. Cisne
The Eagles had a winning streak snapped by Cisne with a 7-4 loss on Monday.

St. Elmo had won five games in a row prior to the loss.

Sperry had a home run to cap a 2-for-4 day at the plate, and sophomore Garrett Bartels was 1-for-3, with two RBI.

Beasley took the loss, but he did strike out nine batters in seven innings.

The Eagles led through the first half of the game, but the Lions scored seven times in the final three innings to put the game away.

St. Elmo vs. Ramsey
The Eagles scored a big win against Ramsey last Thursday, taking the game, 16-6.

Eight players had at least one hit for St. Elmo, with Stolte leading the way. He was 3-for-4, with a home run, two singles and three RBI.

Bartels had three RBI, and was 1-for-3 at the plate.

Freshman Levi Maxey earned his second win of the season from the mound.

He pitched four innings, striking out three and allowing just three hits.

Brownstown at CORL
The Bombers earned their third win of the season, defeating Christ Our Rock Lutheran, 10-6, on Monday.

Senior Bryce Mason was 2-for-3 at the plate, with six steals and two runs. He also struck out 10 batters on the mound to earn his second win of the year.

Six other Bombers had at least one hit in the game.
