Mouse Races are on Saturday

The Vandalia High School boys basketball program is seeking several sponsors for its Mouse Races fundrasier, which will be held on Saturday at 6 p.m..

Sponsors are needed for each of the 60 mice which will participate in the races, each of the 10 races and each of the six racing lanes.

Naming a mouse costs $15, naming a lane costs $50 and naming a race costs $100.

Lane sponsors will also receive one admission ticket, and race sponsors will receive two admission tickets.

Admission to the event is $15, and will include dinner, mouse races, 50/50 wheel, heads or tails, silent auction and a live auction.

All proceeds will help fund transportation for the team during the season.

VPAC holding 5K run Saturday

The Vandalia Performing Arts Center will hold a 5K fun run and walk on Saturday at Rogier Park.

Registration will be accepted until the 10:30 a.m. race time, with the registration cost being $25.

The entire race will be held in the park, and vendors will be set up following the race. Vendor spaces are available for $10 and a donation of one item to a raffle. Food will also be available.

Proceeds from the event will be used to offset the cost of performance costumes for the center’s dance teams.

SEB cheerleaders chili supper/spirit night is next week

The St. Elmo/Brownstown High School cheerleading squad will be holding its first chili supper and spirit night next Thursday, Nov. 14.

Chili will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. in the St. Elmo High School cafeteria, and each meal costs $5.

Following the supper, a spirit night will be held in the gym at 7 p.m., with a $1 admission or a canned good donation. All cans will donated to Caring and Sharing.

BSE track team hosting trivia night

The Brownstown/St. Elmo High School track team will hold a trivia night next Friday, Nov. 15.

The event will be held in the Brownstown Elementary School cafeteria at 7 p.m.

Teams of 2-8 people can compete for $5 per person.

Drinks will be sold at the event, but participants should bring their own food.
