Brownstown Sports Boosters holding winter cookout on Friday at 5 p.m.

The Brownstown Sports Boosters will be holding a winter cookout prior to the boys basketball game against Patoka on Friday.

The cookout, which includes ribeye, porkburger and hot dog meals or sandwiches, will begin at 5 p.m.

The ribeye meal will be $6, with the sandwich costing $4; the porkburger meal will be $5, with the sandwich costing $3; and the hot dog meal will be $2, with a single hot dog costing $1.

Each meal includes chips, a homemade dessert and a drink.

The basketball will begin at 4 p.m. with a fifth-grade game, and that will be followed by sixth-grade, JV and varsity games. All games will be played against Patoka.

Ramsey hosting dodgeball tournament

Ramsey High School will host a dodgeball tournament on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m.

Teams must have six people, with each individual at least in high school, and no more than four males. The registration cost per team is $60.

Proceeds will benefit the senior class, and admission at the door is $2 for students and $3 for adults. To register a team, contact either Matt Belusko or Robert Evaul at the high school, at 423-2333, during school hours by Feb. 22.

Bruno still alive in 3-point shootout

Vandalia junior Amber Bruno advanced to the sectional final of the 3-point shootout after making nine shots on Tuesday in Fairfield.

Bruno will shoot again on Thursday prior to the 7:30 p.m. game between Pana and Teutopolis.

Sophomore Morgan Cripe, who was the regional champion after making 12 shots at Teutopolis, did not advance on Tuesday.

Other local players shooting at sectionals were South Central's Taylor Keen and Brownstown's Megan Maxey.

Neither of them advanced to the sectional final.
