South Central students attend FBLA conference

Future Business Leaders of America members and advisers from South Central High School attended the 68th Illinois Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield on Friday and Saturday, March 24-25.

More than 1,500 members, advisers and guests from 64 Illinois FBLA chapters were registered for the conference.
The two-day state conference included activities in personal development, business and leadership training, election of 2017-2018 state officers and competitive events.
During the awards program at the conference, South Central High School FBLA members won the following individual, team and chapter competitive events: Ellijah Bahde, ninth place, Website Design; Luke Bergmann and Olivia McLean, sixth place, Marketing; Rachel Bray, fourth place, Word Processing; Griffin Durbin, Ean Fox, and Brayden Gunter, sixth place, Sports and Entertainment Management; Madison Durbin, sixth place, Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure; Adrianne Herbert, sixth place, Advertising; Carson Hulsey, fifth place, Impromptu Speaking; Ella Jahraus and Makenzi Wilson, third place, Publication Design; Allyson McCown, sixth place, Computer Applications; Kaelyn Nannini, 10th place, Client Service; Keely Smith, 10th place, Emerging Business Issues; and Sidney Wilkins, sixth place, Health Care Administration.
Luke Bergmann also received the Leader Award of the Business Achievement Awards.
Other in attendance were FBLA members Haley Bergmann, Louisa Brandl, Kaitlyn Conley, Abby Hahn, Shania Hemrich, Lorraine Magnus, Deven Metcalf, Brady Riley, Adam Schroeder, Erin Schroeder and Yuliana Sedlacek, and advisers Lynn Smith and Erica Fox.
South Central High School had three students qualify for the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California June 29-July 2: Ella Jahraus, Makenzi Wilson and Rachel Bray.
Luke Bergmann and Ella Jahraus from South Central served as voting delegates at the conference in the election of the following 2017-18 Illinois FBLA state officers. They include: Southwestern Area Vice President-Ean Fox, South Central.
These officers will serve on the 2017-2018 Illinois FBLA Executive Council and their advisers will serve on the board of directors.
FBLA-PBL is the largest student business organization in the world with more than a quarter of a million members!  FBLA prepares students for real world professional experiences.
