The South Central High School girls basketball team lost a home game to Woodlawn on Saturday, 44-26.
Canceled on Tuesday and Friday due to inclement weather, the Cougars were playing their first game in 10 days. South Central was rusty from the get-go, scoring just five points in the first quarter.
The Cougars, however, did not give up, despite a seven-point halftime deficit.
At the start of the fourth quarter, South Central still trailed by seven, but some unlucky bounces and a small run by Woodlawn allowed it to take the game with a 14-point showing in the final frame.
South Central will now prepare for the Dieterich Holiday Tournament. It will face Newton on Monday at 10 a.m., and Arcola and North Clay on Tuesday, at 1 and 4 p.m., respectively.
On Friday, the Cougars were scheduled to play a Midland Trail Conference game against Noble, but that was postponed because of inclement weather.
A makeup date has yet to determined.
