South Central boys gets Midland Trail Conference win against Webber

FARINA – The South Central High School boys basketball team used a fast start to defeat Webber last Friday, 52-35.

Sophomore Fischer Tharp and senior Taylor Cain combined to score the Cougars' first 12 points to give South Central a 12-5 lead.

Junior Colby Bushue added a jumper with two seconds left in the first quarter to put the Cougars' lead at 14-8.

Four different Cougars would each score a two-point basket in the second quarter, increasing the lead to 22-14 at halftime.

South Central (4-10, 1-2 Midland Trail Conference) would double that effort in the third period, while holding Webber to just two 3-point baskets by senior Phillip Bodendieck.

The Trojans did score 15 points in the fourth quarter as South Central cycled through its bench.

Tuesday's game against North Clay was canceled due to inclement weather.

That game was rescheduled for  Thursday.
