Snow-Petre

Shelley Snow of O’Fallon, Mo., and Tony Petre of Macon, Mo., were united in marriage on Saturday, June 29, at 5:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Macon, Mo., with the Rev. Vie Comstock officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Don and Vicky Snow of Jacksonville, and the groom is the son of Jim Petre of Macon, Mo., and the late Jackie Petre.
The bride carried the same white lace handkerchief that her mother, a former resident of the Vandalia-Coffeen areas, carried for her wedding on July 20, 1969. She also wore the groom’s mother’s pearl necklace in her memory. She carried white hydrangeas, and wore turquoise and silver shoes. Her dress was white satin with ruching in the front flowing into a train, with silver accents at the side.
The bride was attended by her sister, Shari Snow Ballard of Ripley, Tenn., as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Gretchen Kassel and Amy Hoffman, both of O’Fallon, Mo., friends of the bride. Bridesmatrons were Naomi Snow of Manhattan, Kan., sister-in-law of the bride, and Jamie Day of O’Fallon, Mo., friend of the bride.
They wore black, off-the-shoulder ruched satin sheath dresses with turquoise blue satin shoes and carried bouquets of blue hydrangeas. They also wore black and silver chandelier earrings, gifts from the bride.
Flower girl was Elizabeth Ballard of Ripley, Tenn., niece of the bride.
Colin Snow of Manhattan, Kan., nephew of the bride, carried a chalkboard with “The Bride is Coming” written on it. Throughout the wedding decor were teacher accents, since the bride, matron of honor and three bridesmaids are teachers.
The groom chose his dad, Jim Petre, as his best man.
Groomsmen were his two brothers, Derek Petre of Kansas City, Mo., and Shane Petre of Macon, Mo. Danny Koch and David Wilt, friends of the groom, also served as groomsmen.
They wore black tuxedoes with turquoise ties and white hydrangea boutonnieres. The groom wore a white vest and tie.
During the wedding ceremony, Shari Ballard played selections chosen by the bride, and a duet consisting of Shane Petre on the saxophone and Mrs. Ballard at the piano played the song “Amazed.”
For the recessional, Mrs. Ballard played “God Gave Me You.”
In honor of the groom’s deceased mother, Jackie Petre, her four grandchildren – Amanda and Amelia Prenger, and Kelsi and Ryan Petre of Macon, carried a black lantern down the aisle and placed it on the altar.

The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s father at the Comfort Inn in Macon. It was catered by Prengers Catering of Macon.
The reception was held at the Macon Expo Center in Macon. The bride’s colors of black, white and turquoise were throughout the banquet hall. Dinner was catered by Prengers Catering.
A groom’s cake was a surprise from his family – a St. Louis Cardinals cake with ‘Tony Hit a Homerun” written on it. The groom is an avid Cards fan.
The three-tiered wedding cake had black bands around each tier, with silver accents. The couple cut the cake with the same knife that the bride’s parents used at their wedding.
Wedding guests enjoyed dinner and dancing throughout the evening. Wedding toasts were given by the groom’s father and the bride’s twin brother, Jason, and sister, Shari.
They told a cute story about the bride when she was a little girl.
Special guests at the wedding were Dennis and Christy Miller, the bride’s aunt and uncle from Houston, Texas.
The couple honeymooned at a resort in the Dominican Republic for a week.
The bride graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1996 and Drury University in Springfield, Mo., in 2000. She received her master’s in education from Union University in Jackson, Tenn., in 2006.
She had been a kindergarten teacher at Greentree Elementary School in O’Fallon, Mo., and was chosen as Teacher of the Year this year. She now teaches kindergarten at Macon Elementary School.
The groom graduated from Macon High School and Columbia College in Columbia, Mo., with a degree in business.
He is a property claims adjuster for Cameron Insurance Agency in Cameron, Mo., an agent wtih Macon Realty Co. and owner of Tony’s Lawn Care in Macon, Mo.
The couple were engaged a week before Christmas at the St. Louis Arch.
They are at home at 907 Sunset Drive, Macon, Mo.
