Seven individuals – including three incumbents – wasted no time in getting on the ballot for Vandalia’s municipal election in the spring.
The filing period for the spring election got under way on Monday morning, and right away, an aldermanic race was formed in one of Vandalia’s four wards.
Up for election in the spring are four four-year terms, one in each of the wards, and a two-year term in Ward IV.
In Ward I, those filing petitions included incumbent Bret Brosman, Jason Paslay and Kenneth Hubler.
In Ward II, Russ Stunkel filed for the four-year seat. The incumbent in that ward, Larry Bennett, is not seeking re-election.
In Ward III, Terry Beasley filed for the seat currently held by Lisa McNutt.
In Ward IV, longtime alderman Larry Cable filed to seek re-election. B. John Clark filed petitions on Wednesday to oppose Cable.
As of Wednesday, no one had filed for the two-year term in Ward IV. Andy Lester was appointed to that seat earlier in the year after Chad Feldpouch resigned.
Filing continues through the end of day on Monday.
