Area residents joined together at Rogier Park on Saturday to participate in an “Out of Darkness Community Walk.”
The purpose of the walk is to promote suicide awareness and prevention. “The walk was a huge success, and it is all because of the great people in our community," said event coordinator Nicolette Rikli. The 198 people who participated in the walk raised $8,389, almost $1,500 more than last year. The money raised will be going to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Along with individuals, those making donations to the event included Walmart, County Market and Casey’s General Store.
