VANDALIA – In easily its best offensive performance of the season, Brownstown/St. Elmo manhandled Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick, 26-1, on Tuesday.

The No. 2 Bombers (7-7) pounded out 13 hits in the Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament semifinal game, taking advantage of double-digit walks and five errors by third-seeded BCCH.

Previously, BSE had beaten BCCH, 4-0, in a conference game on Aug. 30, and the Bombers advance to Thursday’s championship game against Patoka at 7 p.m.

“This is where we wanted to be,” said coach Ryan Beccue. “We had a tough one with Patoka the first time, and I am glad we get another chance at them.”

Senior Levi Maxey (3-2) earned the win, striking out seven and allowing just one hit over three innings of work.

He also paced the offense with a 3-for-3 game, driving home a pair of runs in the process.
