Buckstop Archery’s Justin Atwood last Thursday was named the Most Valuable Player of the Vandalia men’s slo-pitch league’s season-ending double-elimination tournament.
Atwood allowed one earned run in four games during the tournament to help Buckstop take the title.
Buckstop was also the regular-season champions and Atwood the regular-season MVP.

•Jon Spicer, Cody Wimberly, Kenny Sprehe and Blaine Hyde all homered for Ugly Koyote, and Joe Eddy had a pair of doubles. For Goldsmith, Karl Sefton and Matt Thompson doubled.
•For Buckstop, Kenny Koenig had two home runs, Brent Bayles and Steve Hosick each homered, and Josh Atwood tripled.
Wednesday, Aug. 24
Ugly Koyote 11
•Jon Lotz had a grand slam for Keck’s, and Tony Alstat tripled. In the fourth, Keck’s scored 16 times, which is the most runs any team in the league had scored in an inning all season. For Ugly Koyote, Jon Spicer homered, Kenny Sprehe tripled, and Joe Eddy and Tyler Payne (2) doubled.
Ugly Koyote 14
•For Ugly Koyote, Jon Spicer and Cody Wimerly both homered twice, Preston Spicer homered, and Kenny Sprehe and Tyler Payne doubled. The five home runs were the most in a game by one team for the whole season. Trevor Montgomery tripled, and Clayton Rhodes doubled for Montgomery.
•Drew Jones and Nick Simmons doubled twice, and Torrie Magnus, Justin Jones and Keri Wilkinson doubled for K-Moe’s. For Goldsmith, Reid McKinley homered and doubled, Chris Schmidt tripled and doubled twice, and Matt Thompson doubled.
Thursday, Aug. 25

•Justin Durbin hit a grand slam, Justin Atwood homered, and Cody Webb and Josh Atwood doubled for Buckstop.
Ugky Koyote 6
•Kenny Sprehe was 5-for-5 and scroed the winning run for Ugly Koyote. Joe Eddy brought him home on a sacrifice fly. For K-Moe’s, Drew Jones tripled, and Jeremy Logue, Justin Jones and Nick Simmons all doubled.
Ugly Koyote 11
•Keck’s fell behind 9-5 after five innings, but scored 11 times in the sixth and seven innings to win. For Keck’s Jon Keck had three doubles and seven RBIs, and Tony Alstat, Jon Lotz and Dustin Murray all doubled. For Ugly Koyote, Kenny Sprehe and Cody Wimberly homered and doubled, and Jimmy Padberg, Tyler Payne and Joe Eddy doubled.
