The Vandalia Community School District will be applying for $38,000 in federal grant funds to upgrade security in several of the district’s buildings.
Superintendent Rich Well told the Vandalia Board of Education at its monthly meeting on Tuesday that – if awarded – the grant monies would be used to upgrade entry door security and add flashing red lights to the exterior of the building to notify teachers and students of an emergency, even if they’re not within earshot of a public address announcement.
