Band Boosters'
Trivia Night

The Vandalia Band Boosters will hold its inaugural Trivia Night at 6:30 p.m. this Saturday in the Vandalia Junior High School gym.
Along with the trivia contest, the band parents will hold a live auction. Items to be auctioned off include St. Louis Symphony tickets, an overnight stay at a Drury Inn and a day at a spa. The cost is $15 per person or $120 for a table of eight.

TRS meeting Oct. 18

The Regional Office of Education and Effingham School District, in conjunction with the Teachers' Retirement System, will hold a group meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the cafetorium at Effingham High School.
The meeting is being held to provide information about TRS benefits and to explain the retirement process.

Partners in Reading begins its 15th year

Partners in Reading will begin its 15th year of mentoring and reading to Vandalia elementary students.
Jefferson Primary and Vandalia Elementary School will begin the program on Oct. 3 and follow the school calendar until April 27.
Partners in Reading has returning volunteers from years past and is looking for new volunteers this year. Adult volunteers come in one (flexible) day a week and read to a student for the student's lunch hour.
Call 267-0671 if you would be interested in joining the band of Partners in Reading this school year. Sherry Schneider and Jill Jewel are the school coordinators, and Pam Baker is the contact for the volunteers.
