Old Capitol has new scholarship

As students finalize their college selections, the Old Capitol Foundation has introduced a new scholarship that will pay up to $2,000 per academic school year.
This scholarship is available to high school seniors and others continuing their education.
To qualify for the Old Capitol Foundation scholarship, the applicant must have been a Fayette County resident for at least two calendar years prior to applying; possess and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; and meet academic requirements for admission to a college, university, or technical school.  
Applicants will be asked to demonstrate school and community involvement and list honors, awards or other achievements. Each application also requires a narrative of 500 words or less on the student’s career goals and how their selected career can positively impact the community.
The Old Capitol Foundation scholarship application can be found online at www.oldcapitolfoundation.org  or www.thefnb.com under “trust services” on the Financial Management page.  
 Completed applications may be sent to the Old Capitol Foundation Scholarship, attention Trust Department, First National Bank, 311 Banker Blvd., Vandalia. The deadline for this new scholarship has been extended to April 15; all application materials must be received by 4 p.m. that day.  Because this is a yearly scholarship, recipients may reapply each year.   For more information, contact Liz or Michelle at The First National Bank trust department, 283-9860.

Open house at St. Peter School

An open house will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, at St. Peter's Lutheran School and Little Saints Preschool & Day Care.The open house will include guided tours, as well as the opportunity to meet several members of the teaching staff and the principal and preschool director. In conjunction with the open house, the school is holding a book fair in the school gym.
Those who are unable to attend the open house may call the school, 349-8888, to arrange a visit.
