The South Central High School girls basketball team was defeated by North Clay, 46-40, last Thursday.

The Cougars (0-2) only scored three points in the first quarter and faced a 22-8 deficit at halftime.

“We did not look good in the first half,” said coach Gary Kapper. “We had some good shots that were not falling, and we weren’t really patient on offense.

“In the second half, we settled down and ran the offense a little better, which helped us to be more aggressive on the defensive end.”

In the second half, the Cougars trimmed North Clay’s lead to as few as three, but they never led.
Junior Tori Logue led South Central with 19 points, and senior Haley Rambo was the top rebounder with eight.
