After attending college in Springfield, law school in Lawrence, Kan., and doing contract legal work for firms in the St. Louis area, Matthew Riedle has returned to his hometown of Vandalia to open his own law office.
And though he’s been in town since last September, he just recently moved into a renovated office at 308 W. Gallatin St., located across the street from the Vandalia Statehouse.
His practice will be of a general nature, including criminal defense, divorces, estates and collections.
“It’s good to be back in Vandalia,” he said. “I like being close to my family, and I know the people of this area well. I look forward to helping people by representing them in legal matters.”
A graduate of Vandalia Community High School, Riedle went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Illinois at Springfield and his law degree from University of Kansas in 2009. He passed the Illinois Bar exam in 2010 and the Missouri Bar exam in 2011. He then worked for law firms in St. Louis and Edwardsville as a contract attorney.
While in college and law school, he completed summer internships for two Vandalia law firms. He also volunteered in the Fayette County State’s Attorney’s office in December 2010.
“I like the field,” Riedle said. “It’s challenging and stimulating. There’s always something different. And I like to know that what I do is making a difference.
“I’ve always been an analytical person, and that fits well with legal work.”
Riedle is the son of Kent and Beth Riedle. His grandparents are Alvin and Pat Riedle and George and Amy Meseke.
The Riedle Law Office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The telephone number is 283-7225, his email is RiedleLaw@gmail.com, and his website is www.RiedleLaw.com.
