County speedway to host Thurs. show

Racing at Fayette County Speedway was rained out for the second straight week last Friday, but the track is hosting a special show on Thursday.

Gates will open for the UMP Summer Nationals DIRTcar Hell Tour this Thursday at 3 p.m., with the racing hot laps to begin at 7 p.m.

Qualifying for late models will begin at 7:30 p.m., and racing will follow immediately.

Double track points will be awarded during the night.

Ticket pricing is as follows:
•Pit pass: $35
•Grandstand ages 13 and older: $20
•Grandstand ages 8-12 (with paid adult): $10
•Grandstand: ages 7 and younger (with paid adult): free

Pit passes and tickets from the June 10 or June 17 shows will not be honored on Thursday. Instead, those tickets will honored on Friday, July 1.

Coles County Dragway hosting events

There will be several special events at the Coles County Dragway this weekend.

On Friday, the Diesel Speed Repair Diesel Truck Series will race. It will also be a Paap Printing Friday Fun Night.
Gates open at 5 p.m., with time runs to begin at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, several types of vehicles will be featured.

The main features on Saturday at the Hot Blade Jet Dragster, Insane A-Fuel Altereds and Mattoon resident Josh Tilford's Blown Alcohol Dragster.

In addition, Super Pro, Pro, Sportsmen and Novice Street cars, bikes and juniors will race.

Gates will open at 10 a.m., with time runs to begin at 2 p.m. The first Jet Dragster will run at 6 p.m.

Gates will open at 8 a.m., with time runs to begin at 10 a.m.

Two Vandalia residents made at least the semifinals last Saturday at the Coles County Dragway.
