Pyramid Marble & Granite

Pyramid Marble and Granite, a company that is headquarters in Effingham, this spring opened a branch office in Vandalia.

The facility, located at 2510 Veterans Ave., offers monuments, vases, mausoleums, war memorials and signs for businesses.
Owned by Barry and Diane Brandt and their son, Ryan, the company also has locations in Newton, Shelbyville and Albion. In Effingham, the company also has a granite countertop fabrication facility and showroom. It offers more than 150 colors of granite.
“We’re in a growth phase,” said Ryan Brandt. “This is the second building like this that we’ve done; it’s a model we plan to use in future locations.”
Managing the Vandalia facility are Butch and Bev Berry, who formerly owned and operated Mt. Auburn Monuments for 24 years.
In addition to selling the stone and lettering, the company also offers laser etching, through which pictures can be copied and etched into the stone. To allow customers to see exactly what their monument will look like, Pyramid has a computer program that allows them to lay out the monument design on a screen.
“Our design center employees will work with the customer to help design exactly what they want,” Ryan said. “We offer a convenient one-stop shop that allows the family to do everything in one trip. It’s convenient.”
Once the design is decided on, the company has two work crews – one to prepare the foundation and one to install the stone.
The local store is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday and Saturday. The telephone number is 283-7221.
