Primary filing is under way

Two of the three county officers whose terms expire next November are running for re-election a year from now, and at least one of those incumbents will face opposition.

The third county officer seat on the ballot will also be a contested race.

Fayette County States Attorney Stephen Friedel, a Democrat, and the county coroner, Republican Bruce Bowen, are among the candidates who filed nominating petitions early this week for the primary election next spring.
