Prep sports schedule picks up in next week

The high school sports season will open this week for the rest of Fayette County’s teams.

VANDALIA
•The Vandals open the soccer season at Pana on Thursday at 4:30 p.m., and also play at Southwestern next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
•The Lady Vandals will open the volleyball season at St. Elmo/Brownstown on Thursday at 6:15 p.m. The home opener is next Tuesday against Staunton at 5 p.m.
•The Vandals open the varsity football season on Friday at home against Gillespie at 7 p.m.
•The freshman football schedule was amended, and there will not be a jamboree at Mark Greer Field this Saturday. The first freshman game in next Thursday against Hillsboro.
•The JV football team opens its season next Monday at Greenville at 6 p.m.
•Vandalia’s tennis team continues its season on Thursday at Greenville at 4 p.m.
•Vandalia’s golf team continues its season on Thursday at Vandalia Country Club at 4 p.m. and next Tuesday at Lincolnwood at 4 p.m.

ST. ELMO/BROWNSTOWN
•The Lady Eagles open the volleyball season on Thursday against Vandalia at 6:15 p.m.

SOUTH CENTRAL
•The Lady Cougars open the volleyball season on Thursday against St. Anthony at 6:15 p.m.
•The baseball team continued its season on Wednesday against Patoka at 4:15 p.m., then plays at Stew-Stras on Friday and against Dieterich next Tuesday.

PATOKA
•The Lady Warriors open the volleyball season next Tuesday at Beecher City at 6:15 p.m.
•The baseball team continued its season at South Central on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m., then plays at the Ramsey Tournament on Friday and at Ramsey next Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.

RAMSEY
•The Lady Rams open the volleyball season next Tuesday against Morrisonville at 6:15 p.m.
•The baseball team continues its season on Friday at the Ramsey Tournament next Tuesday against Patoka at 4:15 p.m.

MULBERRY GROVE
•The Lady Aces open the volleyball season on Thursday against Morrisonville.
•The baseball team continues its season on Friday at the Ramsey Tournament and will be at Beecher City next Tuesday and at Brownstown/St. Elmo next Wednesday. Both games are at 4:15 p.m.

BROWNSTOWN/ST. ELMO
•The Bombers continue the baseball season at North Clay on Thursday, at Beecher City on Friday, at St. Anthony next Tuesday and against Mulberry Grove next Wednesday. All games are at 4:15 p.m.
