Vandalia eighth-graders
fall at Altamont
The Jr. Lady Vandals fell to .500 on the season after a 28-14 loss at Altamont on Tuesday.
Emma Meyer led the team in scoring with eight points, while Anna Miller (four) and Jensen Hollinshead (two) also scored for Vandalia (3-3).
The seventh-grade score was not reported.

The Vandalia Jr. High eighth-grade girls basketball team took its second loss of the season last Friday at Edwardsville Liberty, falling 27-17.
Emma Meyer had 11 points for the Jr. Lady Vandals (3-2), and Jensen Hollinshead added six.

St. Elmo victorious
in NTC match
The Lady Eagles beat Altamont, 25-17, 25-16, on Tuesday to extend their winning streak to five games and move to 7-2 in the National Trail Conference.
Savannah Feezel had 11 kills for St. Elmo (17-6), and freshman Gabi Moore had a pair of service aces.
Senior Perry Manley added 15 assists, and the Lady Eagles had plenty of blocks to slow Altamont’s attack.

Lady Cougars
get win No. 18
South Central’s volleyball team earned its 18th win of the season in a non-conference game against Sandoval on Tuesday, winning, 25-12, 25-15.
Senior Lincoln Brasel had seven kills to lead the team, and senior Kallie Garrett was right behind with six.
Natalie Chapman, also a senior, had 10 assists, and Garrett added two service aces.

The Lady Bombers were unable to get a National Trail Conference win against Neoga n Tuesday, falling, 23-25, 22-25.
Bethany Oberlink had a season-high nine kills in the close loss, and Katie Kroll (nine) and Michaela Walk (eight) did the assisting for the Lady Bombers (6-13, 1-8 NTC).

South Central earned its sixth National Trail Conference win of the season on Monday, defeating Beecher City, 25-15, 25-13.
Seniors Kallie Garrett (nine kills) and Lincoln Brasel (five kills) led the attack for the Lady Cougars (17-5, 6-1 NTC), and Lexi Schafer added four service aces.

Brownstown takes
CORL to three sets
The Lady Bombers had just their second three-set match of the season on Monday against Egyptian-Illini Conference rival Christ Our Rock Lutheran, but they couldn’t get by the Lady Stallions in a 19-25, 25-19, 13-25 loss.
Brownstown (6-12, 4-3 EIC) had finished 16 straight matches in two sets coming into the Monday’s game, with the only three-set match of the year coming on Aug. 23 in the season-opener.
Bethany Oberlink and Courtney Howard each had five kills for the Lady Bombers, and Brittany Kistler added three service aces.

Lady Bombers beat area rival
In a volleyball game last Friday, Brownstown was a 25-16, 25-13 winner against Egyptian-Illini Conference and county rival Ramsey.
Courtney Howard had six kills for the Lady Bombers (6-11, 4-2 EIC), and Bethany Oberlink served three aces.
The win was Brownstown’s fourth in six games after starting the season 2-10.
