Policy includes Chromebook Purchase Program

Vandalia Community High School students who don’t have devices they can use to participate in the 1-to-1 program can lease Chromebooks or use ones kept at the school.
The program guidelines for the 1-to-1 program approved by the Vandalia Board of Education include a Chromebook Purchase Program.
Students may lease a Chromebook for three school years, at a cost of $100 per year. For families qualifying under free and reduced-cost guidelines, the cost is $50 per year.
At the end of that three-year lease period, the student owns the Chromebook.
Students who do not participate in the purchase program will be loaned a Chromebook to use at school each day.
The district plans to purchase 280 Chromebooks, with the total cost being $84,000.
Of that total, more than $18,000 will be repaid to the district over three years through the purchase program.
The balance will be repaid through grants and fundraisers through the Vandalia Alumni Foundation.
