Three months after encouraging residents to lock their vehicles at all times, the Vandalia Police Department is repeating that message.
Chief Larry Eason reported on Monday that that past weekend, his department handled five reports of thefts from vehicles, as well as two more theft attempts.
This comes after the VPD handled nine similar cases over a 13-day period in July.
Eason emphasized that in all cases over this past weekend, none of the vehicles were locked. There were no report of vehicle break-ins or attempted break-ins, he said.
