Piano students give recital

Piano students of Staccato Studios and Christine Jones, instructor in Fillmore and Vandalia, played Christmas music for the residents of Tremont Ridge in Hillsboro during their dinner hour on Dec. 9.

Beginner through advanced-level students all played special piano solos and duets.
Helena Marley, age 9, played “O Christmas Tree” and “Angels We Have Heard on High” as solos, and “Silent Night” and “Good King Wenceslas” as solos and duets with their instructor. Helena Marley is the daughter of Gerry and Dee Marley of rural Nokomis.
Daniel Frailey, age 8, played in his first piano recital; he played “Go Tell it on the Mountain,” “We Three Kings,” “O Come Little Children,” and “Jingle Bells,” as solos and then duets with Jones.
Rebekah Frailey, age 10, played two solos: “The Twelve Days of Christmas” and “O Come All Ye Faithful” and two duets: “Sing We Now of Christmas” and “Foom, Foom, Foom” with Jones.
Laura Frailey, age 12, played “The First Noel,” “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” “Deck the Halls,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “As With Gladsome Men of Old.”
Kristin Frailey, age 15, played “Gesu Bambino,” “Cradle Song In the Setting of Johannes Brahm’s Waltz Op. 39 No. 15 & Lullaby,” “Silent Night,” “The Little Drummer Boy” and “What Child is This?”
William Frailey, age 17, played “The Birthday of a King with O Holy Night,” and “We Three Kings with Beethoven’s Fur Elise.”
