Parrish awarded scholarship

Taylor Parrish, a 2011 Vandalia Community High School graduate, has been awarded a trustee scholarship from Franklin College.

Franklin College is located approximately 30 miles south of Indianapolis, Ind., and has an enrollment of approximately 1,100 students.
The $14,000 scholarship was awarded to Parrish as a result of her participation in the Ben Franklin Day for Scholars, a program through which students who are in the top 10 percent of their high school graduating class or have an ACT score of 26 or higher are invited to participate in a competitive interview  process for Franklin’s top academic scholarships.
Parrish played volleyball for four years at Vandalia High School and has played club volleyball for eight years.
Parrish, who will pursue a degree in environmental biology, is the daughter of Pamella and Gregory Parrish of rural Vandalia.
She will continue her volleyball career as an outside hitter at Franklin College for coach Mary Helak.
