Vandalia Main Street Program Activities

• 5:30 p.m. – Lamplighter, accompanied by carolers, lights the storefronts on Gallatin Street.

• 6 p.m. – Lighting of community Christmas tree at Seventh and Gallatin streets.

• 6:30 p.m. – Children's story time at Evans Public Library.

• Other activities between 5 and 8 p.m. – Strolling carolers, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, free horse-drawn carriage rides, chainsaw-carved ice sculptures, photos with Santa and silent action play of the nativity.

Also Downtown

• SAFE will be selling new and good-quality used purses and bags from 5-8 p.m. in the building east of NOISE Music and Sound.

• The National Road Association of Illinois Interpretive Center will have a chili and vegetable beef soup stand from 5-8 p.m. in front of First National Bank. The cost is $2 per bowl.

• The Family YMCA of Fayette County will have a Your Merry Christmas Adventure Store from 4-8 p.m. featuring gifts starting at 50 cents. Gift items, which have been donated by Cain's Drug Store, include Boyd's Bears, jewelry, wind chimes, photo frames, plaques, garden stakes, stationery, candle holders and sun catchers.
