Many athletes who spent their high school years in Fayette County have moved on to play for college or professional teams. Below are the athletes who recently made headlines.

Spencer Patton • Pitcher • Wilmington Blue Rocks

•June 23 – Patton, a South Central graduate, pitched three innings of scoreless relief during a 4-3 loss to Salem. The Kansas City Royals prospect struck out two and walked one in his outing. On the season, Patton is 3-1, with a 1.19 earned-run average and 56 strikeouts in 45 1/3 innings for the Class A Advanced Blue Rocks.

Tanner Bushue • Pitcher • Tri-City ValleyCats

•Bushue, a South Central graduate, was recently assigned to play for the Tri-City ValleyCats in the Class A Short-Season New York-Penn League. The Houston Astros prospect will play his home games in Troy, N.Y.
•June 23 – Bushue pitched four innings of scoreless relief, striking out six while allowing no hits or walks, in earning the win during a 5-2 victory at Connecticut.
•June 18 – Bushue did not factor into the decision after pitching the first 4 1/3 innings during a 9-6 win against Vermont. He struck out three, while allowing two earned runs on four hits and a walk.
