Many athletes who spent their high school years in Fayette County have moved on to play for college or professional teams. Below are the athletes who recently made headlines.

Spencer Patton • Pitcher • Northwest Arkansas

•Aug. 3 – Patton, a South Central graduate, pitched 1 1/3 innings during a 6-5 loss to Tulsa. The Kansas City Royals prospect allowed an unearned run on two hits, while also striking out two batters for the Class AA Naturals.
•July 30 – Patton had a strong outing in second Class AA appearance, striking out five over 2 1/3 innings.

Tanner Bushue • Pitcher • Tri-City ValleyCats

•Aug. 1 – Bushue, a South Central graduate, started and took the loss in a 4-1 loss at State College. The Houston Astros prospect, who was the New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Week in early July, tossed five innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits and a walk, while also striking out two, for the Class A Short-Season ValleyCats.

Logan Mahon • Pitcher • Gateway Grizzlies

•Aug. 4 – Mahon, a St. Elmo graduate, pitched 1/3 of an inning of relief during a 3-2 loss to River City. The independent Frontier League player allowed an earned run on two hits.
•Aug. 2 – Mahon tossed 1/3 of inning of relief in a 6-5 loss at Rockford.
•Aug. 1 – Mahon pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief during a 4-3 loss at Rockford. He allowed one hit.
•July 30 – Mahon tossed an inning of relief during a 9-2 win against the Greys. He struck out two and allowed three hits.
