Many athletes who spent their high school years in Fayette County have moved on to play for college or professional teams. Below are the athletes who recently made headlines.

Spencer Patton • Pitcher • Caneros de Los Mochis

•Oct. 25 – Patton, a South Central graduate, earned a save for the Caneros de Los Mochis in a 6-3 victory against Guasave in Caribbean Winter League action. Patton struck out a batter in his inning of work. He is a Kansas City Royals prospect.

Sierah Ruffner • Freshman • Greenville • Volleyball

•Oct. 29 – Ruffner, a Vandalia graduate, had eight kills and two block assists during a 3-0 win against Webster. GC is 22-5 (15-1 SLIAC).
•Oct. 26 – Ruffner had eight kills, one dig, one solo block and one block assist during a 3-1 win against Fontbonne.
•Oct. 26 – Ruffner had seven kills and two block assists during a 3-2 loss to Spalding.
•Oct. 22 – Ruffner had seven kills, three digs, one ace, one solo block and two block assists during a 3-1 win against Westminster.

Amanda Walton • Senior • Bethel • Volleyball

•Oct. 26 – Walton, a Vandalia graduate, had four kills during a 3-1 win at Faulkner University.
•Oct. 24 – Walton had four kills and an assist during a 3-0 win at Martin Methodist.
•Oct. 22 – Walton, a Vandalia graduate, had six kills during a 3-2 loss at Freed-Hardeman.

Amy Walton • Junior • Blackburn • Volleyball

•Oct. 26 – Walton, a Vandalia graduate, had two kills, two aces and 10 digs during a 3-0 loss to Loras.
•Oct. 26 – Walton had 12 digs during a 3-0 loss to Dubuque.
•Oct. 24 – Walton had two aces during a 3-0 loss at Webster.

Kinzie Neilson • Sophomore • Lincoln Land • Volleyball

•Oct. 25-26 – Neilson, a South Central graduate, and No. 9 Lincoln Land went 2-2 at the Iowa Central Invitational. In game one, a 3-1 loss to Des Moines Area Community College, Neilson had two kills, three aces and nine digs. In game two, a 3-1 win against Iowa Central CC, Neilson had 10 kills, 13 digs, one assist and two block assists. In game three, a 3-1 win against Ellsworth CC, Neilson had six kills, 11 digs, one assist and a solo block. In game four, a 3-1 loss to Butler (Kan.) CC, Neilson had 15 digs, one ace and one assist.

Blake Swofford • Freshman • Rend Lake • Golf

•Swofford, a Vandalia graduate, recently finished in a tie for ninth at the National Juniaor College Athletic Association Fall Preview. He shot a three-round total of 224 (82-72-70) to help Rend Lake place third.
