The Next Level: Graduate athlete roundup (Nov. 28)

Many athletes who spent their high school years in Fayette County have moved on to play for college or professional teams. Below are the athletes who recently made headlines.

Spencer Patton • Pitcher • Caneros de Los Mochis

•Nov. 21 – Patton, a South Central graduate, pitched an inning of relief for the Caneros de Los Mochis in a 16-6 victory against Obregon in Caribbean Winter League action. Patton struck out one. He is a Kansas City Royals prospect.
•Nov. 19 – Patton picked up the save, striking out one in the ninth inning of a 6-4 win against Obregon.

Marty Johnson • Junior • Illinois College • Basketball

•Nov. 23 – Johnson, a Vandaila graduate, played two minutes off of the bench during a 132-126 loss to Grinnell College. He made one field goal for two points.

Amber Bruno • Freshman • Fontbonne • Basketball

•Nov. 23 – Bruno, a Vandalia graduate, played 14 minutes off of the bench during a 108-57 win against St. Mary-Woods. She scored a team-high 12 points, while grabbing two rebounds and dishing out two assists.

Jennifer Potts • Freshman • Central Missouri • Bowling

•Nov. 22-24– Potts, a Mulberry Grove graduate, helped lead No. 3-ranked Central Missouri's women's bowling team to a the championship at the Nebraska Big Red Invitational. Potts placed fifth individually, with a 204.7 average to be named to the all-tournament team. She had high games of 243 and 242. The team is off until Jan. 11.
