Many athletes who spent their high school years in Fayette County have moved on to play for college or professional teams. Below are the athletes who recently made headlines.

Spencer Patton • Pitcher • Omaha Storm Chasers

•April 26 – Patton, a South Central graduate, pitched one inning of relief in a 3-0 loss at New Orleans. The Kansas City Royals AAA prospect allowed a solo home run and struck out a batter.
•April 22 – Patton struck out one in one inning of relief in a 5-1 win against Nashville.

Quenten Austin • Soph. • Carthage • Track

•April 26 – Austin, a Vandalia graduate, placed second in the pole vault and participated in two other events at the Wisconsin Private College Outdoor Track and Field Championships, helping No. 13 Carthage College win the meet. He cleared 13 feet, 5 3/4 inches to earn eight of the team's 211.5 points. He also finished 11th in the long jump (19 feet, 7 inches) and 15th in the discus (104 feet, 5 inches).

Sierah Ruffner • Freshman • Greenville • Track

•April 26 – Ruffner, a Vandalia graduate, placed in a tie for fourth in the high jump at the Illinois College True Blue Open by clearing 5 feet. GC placed third, with 86 points.

Abby Hill • Junior • Greenville • Track

•April 26 – Hill, a St. Elmo graduate, placed fifth in the hammer throw at the Illinois College True Blue Open by throwing 133 feet, 5 inches. GC placed third, with 86 points.

Trevor Montgomery • Soph. • Greenville • Baseball

•April 26 – Montgomery, a Vandalia graduate, went 2-for-4, with a run, in an 11-10 loss at Washington (Mo.) University.
•April 26 – Montgomery went 1-for-2, with a double, RBI and run, in a 10-4 loss at Washington University.
•April 25 – Montgomery went 1-for-2, with a walk, in an 11-1 loss against Washington University.
•April 23 – Montgomery went 2-for-3, with a double, RBI and three runs in a 3-0 win at Blackburn.

Dathan Berning • Soph. • Greenville • Baseball

•April 26 – Berning, a Vandalia graduate, went 1-for-3 in a 10-4 loss at Washington (Mo.) University.
•April 23 – Berning went 1-for-3, with a double and three RBI, in a 9-0 win at Blackburn.

Becca Oldham • Freshman • Greenville • Softball

•April 22 – Oldham, a Mulberry Grove graduate, went 1-for-3, with a solo home run, in a 2-1 win against Rose-Hulman.

Harley Tompkins • Soph. • Parkland • Softball

•April 27 – Tompkins, a Mulberry Grove graduate, went 1-for-3, with a double and a run, in an 8-1 win at Lewis and Clark College.
•April 27 – Tompkins went 1-for-4, with a double and a run, in a 9-4 win at Lewis and Clark College.
•April 26 – Tompkins went 2-for-3, with two doubles, in a 2-0 win at John Wood Community College.
•April 24 – Tompkins went 2-for-3, with a home run, triple, five RBI and two runs, in a 14-3 win against Lincoln College.
•April 24 – Tompkins drew two walks and scored twice in a 13-5 win against Lincoln College.
•April 23 – Tompkins went 3-for-3, with two RBI and a run, in an 11-5 win against Olney Central College.
•April 23 – Tompkins went 1-for-3, with an RBI, in a 6-3 win against Olney Central College.

Macie Cain • Freshman • Olney Central CC • Softball

•April 25 – Cain, a South Central graduate, went 1-for-3, with two RBI and a run, in an 11-0 win at John A. Logan College.
•April 25 – Cain went 2-for-4, with a run, in a 4-3 win at John A. Logan College.
•April 23 – Cain went 2-for-4, with a double, RBI and run, in an 11-5 loss at Parkland College.
•April 21 – Cain went 1-for-3, with a run, in a 19-4 loss against John A. Logan College.
